Agree with you on the tackling part. In a competitive match (as in a non-friendly game), those unnecessary fouls will get punished more often than not either through a goal or a card. It just so happened that this was a friendly and there was a lenient ref. On another note, I think some of the Canadian players need to learn to stay on their feet better. Just because you fall to the ground doesn’t mean you will get a call.

Nothing though beats the weather in the later parts of the game. I don’t think I’ve ever watched a game where the game was halted because of weather. It was quite a sight.

In the span of about 10 minutes, television cameras captured Suarez crying. Then celebrating after Gyan’s miss. Then being hoisted up by his teammates. Ah the emotions. Ah the life of a footballer. To be honest, I got a laugh out of the celebrations only because Suarez was the last guy I expected to see being hoisted up.

“Fair Play” campaign is all but dead at the professional level in my opinion. Constant harassment of referees, malicious tackles, and the Daniele de Rossi’s of this world all work against the ideals of the campaign. Heck. In theory, ‘parking the bus’ goes against “Fair Play” ideals as the team is not trying to win. Its just how it is nowadays. Job security comes first. Everything else comes second.

Chamakh could well prove to be a massive success, but as of now is unproven in England (though French League players tend to adapt better than most other leagues players), Petrov is tested. If Riera hasn’t already left Liverpool, his position at the club is surely untenable at this point, I was under the impression he had moved to a Russian club. Kuyt I think will move to Inter and Babel and Petrov would probably both be comfortable being in the same squad.
West Ham at Villa Park…..CANNOT WAIT!!!

Chamakh may have something to say about best value for money signing. Besides, even if Liverpool did go after Petrov, you can’t blame him for choosing Bolton. The amount of uncertainty surrounding Liverpool and their current roster both work against Liverpool. With the likes of Riera, Babel, and Kuyt still on the team and a new manager coming in, Petrov would have no clue where he would stand in the pecking order.

On another note, just imagine. Prem fires back up in little over a month. Time flies.
