Podcast # 35 – Double Goal Goalie Delight

Well it’s another edition of The Subs Bench Podcast and we’re joined by our favourite Man Utd fan Sam Gregory from Canadian Stretford End and Canadian Terrace Talk (subscribe to both if you haven’t).  He helps us go over the major talking points and gives us his Best Man UTD XI.  Jonny Heitinga and the Toffees comes back with a song about Robihno.  One of Matt’s best I think…

    Man city “deserved” to win the game, but Webb just gave it to them on a silver platter. On a happier note, City clearly wasted their money on Lescott.

    There were 5 penalty kicks awarded over the weekend in the Premier League. Not a single one of them were conducted legally. In all cases, either the goalie or defence (or both) jumped early. None of them were retaken. So why do we have a ref and linesman watching again?

    In theory, you can look at the USL or MLS youth academies as an option for the younger players (14-16 year olds for example) in North America. Only obvious drawback is that the chance of getting noticed by European clubs is severely less here than if they were to go ply their trade in Europe.
